Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Our practice offers nitrous oxide (laughing gas) sedation upon request. Nitrous oxide is an effective analgesic, offering fast and effective pain relief and relaxation, whether you’re 5 or 75.
Best of all, you’re able to remain completely conscious throughout your procedure, so there’s no need to have someone else drive you to and from our office.
What to Expect
If you’ve never had laughing gas, nitrous oxide makes you feel similar to having a couple of glasses of wine. Although you’re aware of everything going on, you’re less likely to care as much about being in the dental office. We’ll still numb your tooth with local anesthetic to ensure you don’t feel any discomfort.
Laughing gas takes effect within a matter of minutes. After your extraction, smile makeover, or other procedure is complete, we’ll turn the gas back to 100% pure oxygen. In about 5-10 minutes, you’ll feel completely like yourself again.
“Should I Request Sedation?”
Dental sedation is a perfect add-on for anyone who wants to experience a more relaxing trip to the dental office. Whether you have mild anxiety or you’re planning a complex dental procedure, you can always request to add nitrous oxide to your appointment.
We highly recommend using nitrous sedation during longer procedures or oral surgeries, such as wisdom tooth removal, crown and bridgework, or while treating young children who may struggle sitting still for very long.
